I was originally hired at GlobeFlex in operations and was quickly placed in charge of trade settlements.  As I mastered each area, I got to follow my interests in learning more about the trading and investment processes.  Now I actually sit at the trading desk during portfolio rebalancing.

Navigating multiple responsibilities gives me a great perspective on the flow from the front end of the trade process to the back end.  I can start upstream and work downstream, which allows me to anticipate any potential issues on the settlement desk.  Whenever any type of glitch arises, it's important to stay level-headed and logically work through the various chains of events in order to solve the problems.  The relationships that I have developed with the banks and brokers have proved to be a key component in efficient problem solving.

I love trading because it's fast-paced and you're on the front line.  Iit gives me the same kind of adrenaline rush and excitement that comes from my lifelong love of playing basketball. 

GlobeFlex hired me in 2007 new to the industry and it was a great fit from the very beginning.  The core strength of the firm is the people.  One of the main criteria is making sure they fit; qualified, but at the same time have the personality to fit the culture.  Everyone works well together.  There's a lot of stability - people have been here a long time - when you see how we work, you see how a small team can efficiently handle such a big workload.
